Control Data (Thailand) Limited has
successfully concluded the first joint stakeholder consultation workshop under
the contract to review, design, and develop the Systems Requirements
Specification (SRS) for the Maldives' Civil Registration, Vital Statistics, and
Identification (CRVSID) Management system.
The workshop, held on February 13, 2025,
marked the culmination of a series of workshops conducted during the firm's
first planned mission from February 9th to 13th, 2025. Project Manager Dr.
Ibrahim Waheed inaugurated the session with an introduction to the D’MADD
project, emphasizing the key digital outputs and the current digital
development mechanisms within the CRVSID ecosystem in the Maldives.
Officials from the Department of National
Registration, the National Centre for Information Technology, the Department of
Judicial Administration, the Civil Court, the Family Court, the Ministry of
Health, the Maldives Bureau of Statistics, Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, the
Local Government Authority, and Male City Council also participated in the
workshop.
Various other organizations were involved in
the workshop in addition to the organisations consulted one-on-one. These
include the largest private sector healthcare facilities in Male’ City, ADK,
and Treetop Hospital, for which the Government is required to log birth and
death data into the current CRVSID system.
Along with government organizations and the private
sector, representatives from international organizations such as UNFPA and
UNICEF participated in the workshop. Both organizations are part of the
Maldives CRVSID steering committee. The Ministry of Social and Family
Development also participated in the workshop and was identified as a key
stakeholder of the CRVSID process, as it was responsible for managing children
in foster care.
The interactive session featured presentations
of findings from various meetings, fostering lively discussions among
participants. The friendly atmosphere facilitated the establishment of new
connections, enabling all parties to collaborate effectively towards a common
goal. A total of 51 officials participated in the meeting.
