Mr. Aditya Agrawal, lead
consultant and founder of D4D Insights, a consulting firm dedicated to catalysing
data and technology innovations to support international development and
sustainability efforts globally, made a courtesy call to Maldives. This visit
was intended to introduce and establish connections with stakeholders before
the formal commencement of the activity for subcomponent 3.1 next October.
The D’MADD project’s Component 3:
“Digital technologies and data platform for climate resilience”, was designed
to help establish a national data sharing platform that will integrate data
from different systems in use. The platform is envisioned as the primary
dashboard, analyzing data to provide a comprehensive overview of the current
situation and will be used to predict scenarios.
During his visit, Mr. Aditya
Agrawal met with technical staff of Ministry of Tourism and Environment on
September 8th, 2025. The composition included, Environment
Regulatory Authority, Maldives Meteorological Service, Water and Sanitation
Department and Waste Management Department.
The second meeting was held on
September 9th, 2025 the consultant met with Dr. Mohamed Kinaanath
(Minister of State for Homeland Security and Technology) representing National
Centre for Information Technology, along with management and technical
personnel.
Mr. Aditya Agrawal, explained concept
and methodology of the work being carried out including the scope, goals and the
proposed timeline. He covered technical as well as policy related areas that
needs to be addressed to achieve the intended goals. He also answered questions
from the stakeholders, regarding the climate data platform.
With support from the Korea Green
Growth Trust Fund (KGGTF)—a collaboration between the World Bank and the
Republic of Korea—and in consultation with relevant national authorities, the
D’MADD project previously developed a comprehensive Road Map for the establishment
of a national Data Sharing Platform. This strategic document outlines a phased
approach to enabling secure, interoperable, and climate-resilient data exchange
across sectors.
