KBSL Commences work on developing a Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan for the National Centre for Information Technology

The KBSL Information Technologies Limited (KBSL) team completed their first consultation sessions with key stakeholders. The D’MADD project signed a contract with the Company on 4th May to develop a Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plan for the National Centre for Information Technology (NCIT). The mission sessions were conducted from 4th to 8th May 2025. The mission team consisted of Mr. Krishan Perera (Associate Vice President International Business), Sahan Weerasekara (Team lead- Data Centre Solution | Post Sales), and Winu Peththawadu (Account Manager International Business). Also joining the team was Mr. Ganesh Kandasamy (Principal Consultant, Valiant Technologies Pvt Limited).
The mission kicked off with the KBSL team meeting with the Senior Management team of NCIT, led by Minister of State for Homeland Security and Technology, Dr. Mohamed Kinaanath. The team shared the work plan and targets. The Management team shared their expectations at the end of the assignment.
The team then held extensive in-depth analysis meetings with the technical teams of the NCIT, covering the Data Centre and Network Infrastructure team, the Software Development team and the Security Operations Centre teams.
Additionally, the team met with members from the Ministry of Economic Development and the Local Government Authority, two of the largest organizations obtaining the services of NCIT as external customers. The team explored the potential impact on the organization's business operations if the infrastructure fails at NCIT.
The team consulted on the national communications infrastructure with the Communications Authority of the Maldives (CAM). They also explored the role of CAM as the regulator of telecom operators to reinstate digital services in the event of a disaster scenario at NCIT.
Finally, the team also met with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on their wider role as the national coordinator of disaster circumstances.
The team was also given a tour of the current physical infrastructure at NCIT so that they could comment on aspects of physical security and overall resiliency of the institution.
The team will compile and present their finding at a workshop planned with a broader stakeholder workshop.
