The D’MADD team meets with Minister Ali Ihusaan. The
Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology, now responsible for the digital
technology sector’s development and regulation, inherited this mandate from the
former Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Technology. The project
will soon be officially transferred to the Ministry.
During the meeting, Dr. Waheed introduced the D’MADD team
and presented the project’s components. He emphasized the importance of the new
government’s policy directives for the successful implementation of the project,
including the submission of the Data Protection and Privacy act to the
parliament.
Minister Ihusaan shared insights on these new policies and
explored potential synergies with D’MADD to ensure effective policy
implementation. He underlined on coordination of government initiatives and
utilization of funds in a way that there are no unnecessary duplications of
spending.
This meeting marks a promising start for the collaboration
between D’MADD and the Ministry, aiming to drive forward the nation’s digital
technology initiatives.
