The third awareness and outreach
session of the Maldives digital identity system “eFaas” was conducted in Hulhumalé
on 9th and 10th October 2026, providing residents with convenient access to
digital identity services while raising awareness on the benefits of the
national digital identity platform.
The first part of the event was
held on 9th October 2026 at Hiyaa Park, Hulhumalé Phase II, one of the largest
residential population centres in Malé City. The second part took place on 10th
October 2026 at Hulhumalé Central Park, another key public space serving a
large segment of the Hulhumalé community. Both outreach sessions were conducted
from 4:00 p.m. onwards, enabling residents to access services and engage with
the eFaas team during the afternoon and early evening.
During the events, staff of the
MDS eFaas Team engaged directly with members of the public, providing
information on the features, benefits, and practical applications of the eFaas
digital identity platform. The sessions offered residents an opportunity to
gain more knowledge about how eFaas supports secure access to digital
government services and contributes to the Government's broader digital
transformation efforts.
In addition to awareness
activities, on-site helpdesk services were provided to assist residents with
eFaas registration, account-related inquiries, identity verification support,
and general guidance on accessing digital services. The initiative was aimed at
making digital government services more accessible by bringing assistance
directly to communities where large numbers of citizens reside and congregate.
The events attracted strong
public interest, with many residents taking advantage of the opportunity to
receive assistance, learn more about eFaas services, and engage directly with
the outreach team. Through continued community engagement and mobile service
delivery, the eFaas Mobile Helpdesk remains committed to improving public
awareness, increasing adoption of digital services, and supporting the ongoing
development of a digitally empowered Maldives.
The outreach events were facilitated with
support from the D’MADD Project, which continues to support initiatives that
enhance public access to digital services and strengthen digital inclusion
across the Maldives. The events also benefited from the valuable logistical
support provided by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), whose assistance
contributed to the successful delivery of the outreach activities in two of
Hulhumalé's largest population centres.
