The D’MADD project has signed a contract with
KBSL Information Technologies Limited to provide services to prepare a Business
Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) plan for the National Centre for
Information Technology (NCIT). Minister of State for Homeland Security and
Technology, Dr. Mohamed Kinaanath, as head of the NCIT, signed the contract on
behalf of the Ministry, while Mr. Krishan Perara, Associate Vice President,
International Business, signed for the company. KBSL has been operating in the
Information Technology sector since 1987.
The contract was awarded to them for USD 45,525/-. The work would take 4 months to complete. The plan prepared by the company should be in line with international standards. The Company should also assess the current situation of the National Data Centre operated by the NCIT and carry out risk assessments related to natural disasters, cyberattacks, electrical systems, cooling systems and fires. They will also determine the skills required by the staff regarding the implementation of such a plan and the necessary training to develop human resources. Upon completion of the assignment, the government will have a complete operational manual to deal with such a disaster.
