The Maldives, recognized for its proactive stance on climate resilience and its strong digital infrastructure, continues to face pressing environmental challenges such as rising sea levels and coastal erosion. To support national efforts, the proposed Data Sharing Platform for Climate Action aims to enhance access to reliable environmental data, enabling more informed decision-making across sectors. Key focus areas include monitoring coral reefs and marine ecosystems, managing coastal erosion, strengthening Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) processes, and using environmental data to improve public health outcomes. The platform will be introduced through a phased, collaborative approach over two years. Implementation will emphasize inclusive governance, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement, while remaining sensitive to institutional realities and cultural contexts. This initiative complements existing government strategies and represents a meaningful step toward a more resilient and data-driven future for the Maldives.
