Dr. Mohamed Kinaanath is a distinguished technologist and the Minister of State for Homeland Security and Technology, where he oversees the government’s technology portfolio. He manages three key technology agencies: the National Centre for Information Technology (NCIT), the National Cybersecurity Agency (NCSA), and the Communication Authority of the Maldives (CAM). In this capacity, he also serves as the Director of the D’MADD Project.
Dr. Kinaanath holds a PhD in Information Technology from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, a master’s degree in e-Commerce with Distinction from Griffith University, Australia, and an Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science from the University of Brighton, UK.
As an Assistant Professor in Digital Innovation and ICT, Dr. Kinaanath has made significant contributions to academia. He worked as the Head of the IT Department at The President’s Office, UNICEF Office and Villa College. He has supervised 130 master’s degree dissertations and 100 undergraduate projects and has taught over 10,000 students in ICT and Research at higher education institutions in the Maldives and New Zealand.
